We've compiled a list of some of our favorites. They are categorized by:
PCUSA Lectionary – suggested scripture readings for each day from the PCUSA. A two year cycle that reads through the entire Bible. The Upper Room – an online daily devotional guide d365.org – a devotional site for students. Visit the site daily to read devotions and/or sign-up on FaceBook Oremus –is an online search engine for books and verses of the Bible. It includes the New Revised Standard Version which the PCUSA normally uses for worship and study. Bible Gateway.com – is a searchable online Bible reference that includes other languages. Look up a passage, choose a version, use a concordance or topical reference. Henri Nouwen Society –features the writings of Henri Nouwen. You can sign up for an email subscription and receive daily and weekly excerpts. Just Living – a guide for couples and families on practicing faith in the little decisions of everyday living simply so that others can simply live. This is part of PCUSA's "Enough for Everyone" initiative. Presbyterian News Service – offers "deep and wide” stories. Presbyterians Today – the award-winning magazine of our denomination.
Beliefnet – current topics and reflections on spirituality from the perspective of a variety of religious faiths all the major ones as well as others that some might call “new age”. It is a good source for learning about other faiths. Following our link takes you to Christian articles. Presbyterian Outlook – weekly online magazine dedicated to reporting the concerns of Presbyterian Churches. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) – Updates on PDA initiatives and current appeals through the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. You can also access this on FaceBook at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Presbyterian-Disaster-Assistance/34601953806 Church World Service – an ecumenical (pertaining to the whole church universal) relief agency through whom Presbyterians often coordinate. Find directions for emergency hygiene and other kits distributed by CWS. (CWS is also the coordinator of CROP Walks ) Equal Exchange – fairly traded coffee, tea, chocolate and other snacks; a trading partner of the Presbyterian Coffee Project: http://www.equalexchange.coop/fair-trade Serrv, AKA A Greater Gift – works to eradicate poverty through the marketing of products from artisans and farmers in low income areas of the world. (Presbyterian Church, USA – Resources and Information) Presbyterian Church in the United State of America (PCUSA) – Includes information about beliefs, programs, and resources listed below. The Book of Confessions – a collection of the core historical statements adopted by the PCUSA for guiding us in our beliefs for today - Part I of the Constitution of the PCUSA.. This requires a free PDF reader (see above on the upper right side). The Book of Order: 2011-2013 edition – the governance section of the constitution of the PCUSA explains why we do the things we do - Part II of the Constitution of the PCUSA. This requires a PDF reader (see above on the right side). The reader is free from a variety of sources.
The Presbytery of Western North Carolina – is the local body to which our church belongs. Minutes of Presbytery meetings, information on Missions, information on Camp Greer, Presbyterian Women information, Campus ministries, Presbyterian Youth, etc. You should look at this site.
The Synod of the Mid-Atlantic – is the regional body of the national church (PCUSA): between our presbytery (the Presbytery of Western North Carolina) and the General Assembly. Same as the Western Carolina site only on a larger scale.
